Polyaluminium chloride is now widely used in coal washing plants. Its main features are strong water treatment ability, fast speed, and effluent water quality that can meet discharge standards. Treatment of coal washing wastewater by polyaluminium chloride: The effect of polyaluminium chloride is to destabilize the particles in the water and then condense them after compressing the double electric layer. In this process, the dosage of polyaluminium chloride must be based on the requirement of forming the desired initial particles. Its dosage affects the effective density e, particle size dp and effluent turbidity SSt of the aggregate, and then affects the treatment of coal washing wastewater. With the increase of polyaluminium chloride dosage, the effective density e of coal slime aggregate decreases. This is because the cohesion of coal slime particles increases with the increase of PAC dosage, which is easy to generate high-multiple particles. Such particles have a large porosity, which leads to the formation of coal slime. The effective density e of particles decreases; the effluent turbidity SSt decreases significantly with the increase of PAC dosage, and the effluent changes from turbid to clear. When PAC is added to 2.6 mg/L, SSt changes very little and basically tends to be stable. The increase of PAC makes the destabilization degree of fine particles in coal washing wastewater increase, the cohesion increases, and SSt decreases sharply. When the PAC dosage reaches a certain value, most of the particles in the wastewater are almost completely destabilized and coagulated, achieving the best effect. Further increasing the dosage of polyaluminium chloride does not make much sense. Moreover, in practical projects, considering saving the cost of reagents, the dosage of PAC should be controlled.
