When polyaluminium chloride is flocculated with oilfield sewage, there are many flocculated substances floating on the surface of the pool. These substances need to be removed by other methods, such as scraping away with a scraper or a special net bag. Sometimes there is still oil floating, which means that the dosage is not enough or it is not fully mixed with sewage.
The additives added in the process of crude oil mining and refining often have anionic surfactants, which can change the surface tension of water in oil and facilitate the removal of water from oil. In the process of oil processing, these additives are partially discharged as wastewater with water and residual oil. Because these additives remain in the wastewater, its surface tension is different from that of other water, and the residual oil and other pollutants exist in the wastewater in the form of emulsions. Due to the change in surface tension, the oil and some other impurities in the wastewater are not actually in direct contact with water molecules, and it is difficult for the emulsions to polymerize with each other to form suspended matter. Therefore, general physical and chemical coagulants are difficult to work or work very poorly.
