Pharmaceutical wastewater treatment process and polyaluminium chloride dosage analysis

‌Most pharmaceutical wastewater has the characteristics of high organic concentration, high chromaticity, containing substances that are difficult to degrade and toxic to microorganisms, complex water quality components, and poor biodegradability. The residual antibiotics and high concentration of organic matter in the wastewater make it difficult for traditional biological treatment methods to achieve the expected treatment effect. The strong inhibitory effect of residual antibiotics on microorganisms poisons aerobic bacteria, making aerobic treatment difficult; and anaerobic treatment of high concentrations of organic matter is difficult to meet the effluent standards, and further treatment is required. Pharmaceutical wastewater requires the use of two agents, polyaluminum chloride and polyacrylamide.

The complexity of pharmaceutical wastewater and the high consumption and low efficiency of conventional biochemical treatment processes are the direct reasons why a large amount of pharmaceutical wastewater is difficult to treat and difficult to meet the discharge standards. Therefore, before adopting the traditional process of anaerobic biochemical treatment and anaerobic and aerobic biochemical combination, the pharmaceutical wastewater is effectively pretreated to destroy or degrade the residual drug molecules and antibiotic activity, so that the substances that are difficult to biodegrade are converted into small molecules that are easy to biodegrade, that is, to eliminate their inhibitory effects on microorganisms and improve the biodegradability of wastewater, which can greatly reduce the difficulty of subsequent biological treatment.

Its common treatment process is as follows:

Sewage - chemical oxidation - biochemical treatment - flocculation - sludge dehydration - waste residue

Among them, polyaluminum chloride (200-500ppm) plus polyacrylamide (5-15ppm) is used for flocculation, and cationic polyacrylamide (50-200ppm) is used for sludge dehydration. Because the initial wastewater indicators of different manufacturers are different, the specific dosage should be determined after the experiment.

The production process of chemical pharmaceuticals consists of raw material production and drug preparation production. The raw material is obtained by chemical synthesis process and separation and purification from medicinal plants. The production process has the following characteristics: long production process and complex process; many types of raw and auxiliary materials, high quality standards of intermediates and products in the production process, strict quality control of raw materials and intermediates; low net material yield, many by-products, and many three wastes. The wastewater generated by chemical pharmaceutical enterprises in industrial production is one of the most polluted and difficult to treat industrial wastewaters in my country. It has the characteristics of high organic and inorganic salt content, low and fluctuating BOD5 and CODcr ratios, poor biodegradability, intermittent discharge, and large fluctuations in water volume.

There are many types of chemical synthetic drugs. Because the products, raw materials, and processes are different, it is difficult to uniformly treat them. It is often necessary to focus on recycling materials, comprehensive utilization, and reducing the discharge of waste in water.
