The addition of PAC causes dye molecules to form fine flocs due to double-layer compression or neutralization, while the addition of PAM allows anionic organic polymer molecules to form coarse flocs, primarily through the bridging effect of their long molecular chains, under the action of destabilizers. Furthermore, the side chains of PAM molecules contain numerous amide groups, which can form ionic bonds with the -SON groups in dye molecules, thereby reducing the solubility of the organic flocculant in water and promoting floc formation and precipitation.

The role of PAC in phosphorus removal:
1. After being added to phosphorus-containing wastewater, PAC hydrolyzes to form trivalent aluminum ions. These ions react with soluble phosphates in the wastewater to form insoluble phosphate precipitates, thereby removing phosphate ions from the wastewater.
2. After decomposing in the wastewater, PAC's coagulation effect compresses the surface charge layer of phosphate ions, creating adsorption and bridging, allowing phosphate ions to rapidly coagulate with other organic pollutants in the wastewater, forming flocculent precipitates.
3. Fine suspended solids generated by the addition of the phosphorus removal agent grow and coarsen through the sediment trapping mechanism and adsorption and bridging. These particles then coagulate, aggregate, and flocculate into larger particles that settle to the bottom layer. Solid-liquid separation is then performed, and the supernatant is discharged, achieving phosphorus removal.
